The forecast for the area.

A winter storm will stay well South of the FA this weekend, even my IA Counties will missed out on the snow. Looking at the QPF charts  shows all the precipitation remaining well South. Low pressure is forecasted to move out of the Southern plains into West Central  MO then will dive into KT before heading into NC. The low is forecasted to weaken as is takes a tour through the Central States. Rex block still sitting over the Northern Plains/upper Midwest.1035 MB high pressure is controlling the Northern and Midwest areas through the weekend. This has trapped moisture from the melting snow pack which for the most part is gone throughout much of the FA. Still this was enough to setup an inversion, drier air has worked into Northern WI thanks to an East/Northeast wind. This drier air is forecasted to work down into my FA as the day wears on. Should see fog slowly lift. I don’t think fog will be a problem tonight as it has been the last couple of nights/days. Taking a look at the visible satellite loop we see clearing skies over Northern WI this is working South, However clouds from the storm system well to our South are moving North. So will run with clouds today through tonight. Mixing should be better tomorrow so we should see skies become partly cloudy. Most of the USA will be locked under a large area of high pressure throughout much of next week. This could hold into next weekend the way it looks now.Still not sure how far the real cold air will make into my FA so far now will run with lower 30 much of next week.My WI counties may have to be chilled off more,as the cold air will rule over Northern WI.
Here is just one model of many we look at that shows the cold air. This off the 850 MB chart. Not sure if I buy this or not.

The forecast this is really easy.
Today. Cloudy. Fog slowly lifting highs middle 30s.
Tonight. Mostly cloudy lows middle 20s.
Sunday through Friday. Skies will range from partly cloudy to clear. Highs will be warmer on Sunday and Monday with upper 30s to lower 40s. Temps do start their  downward trend as we head through the week. So lower 30s for highs look good. Lows lower 20s look good.
Looking out in time next weekend through Sunday the 19th.
A weak area of low pressure could bring some light snow to Northern areas of WI. This should remain just to the North of my WI FA. GFS shows more snow on Sunday. Monday GFS tries to form a snow storm over much of MN and Western/Northwestern WI. All of my MN/IA Counties will remain on the warm side  on Monday so looks like a rain event maybe be mixed with some snow. Depending how fast the cold air can come into the FA snow amount should remain light as the rain mixes and changes over to snow. Would think my Northern WI Counties will see the higher amounts of snow, if this pans out. Temps look to be cold through Tuesday the 14th before another warmup starts.Cooler air is forecasted to move back into the area by Fri the 17th  with a chance of light snow.
